Spend less money on Google AdWords, Get Better Results

In many respects Google Adwords is the holy grail of advertising. In other respects it’s the devil. In this quick blog article I want to show you a simple trick that can greatly help increase your click-through rate while reducing your cost per click (CPC).

Google AdWords: Improve Click-through While Reducing CPC

Can you reduce your daily spend on Google AdWords AND increase its effectiveness? I believe most companies can. Here’s how.

1. Research your keywords

Using the free keyword tool in AdWords, look for keywords that are good to target. Make sure that you’re targeting the most appropriate keywords for your market. If you’re selling baby’s clothes, don’t target keywords such as “baby” or “clothes” as they’re not specific enough, get in there with long-tail search phrases such as “pink baby bonnet” or “baby light blue booties”. These search phrases are more specific, and more likely to get you a click.

2. Write several ads

Don’t just have one ad for a search phrase: Write a number of them, and try to get those keywords in there. If your target search phrase is “pink baby bonnet” then make sure you get “pink baby bonnet” in there as a phrase, as well as using those individual words throughout the ad as appropriate.

3. Write a targeted landing page

This takes a long time, but it will be worth it. Create a unique page for the advert that is keyword rich for the advert and the search phrase you’re targeting. Make the page incredibly easy to navigate, and ensure anyone landing on your website can easily find whatever they were looking for.

4. Check your keyword relevancy

If it’s performing well then you’re doing a great job and can move on to the next keyword. If it’s not then you need to look at your ads and your landing page and see what you can do to target the keywords more effectively. Keep tweaking until you get a highly relevant targeted phrase.

5. Rinse and repeat

Do this for all of your keywords and you’ll soon be reducing your daily spend, yet improving your click-through rate! Happy advertising! :)
