Website quick tip #10:
Don’t underestimate the power of social media. Your website is a brochure that you need to put in front of people. There are many ways to do that and social media is only one of those ways, but it shouldn’t be neglected. If you have a twitter account but never use it you are leaving money on the table. If you don’t keep your Facebook page up to date your customers will potentially go elsewhere.
Use your blog to create quality content, then link to it from your Facebook page and tweet about it from your Twitter account. Use social media to drive traffic to your site and to engage with your customers and site visitors.
Engage with other companies on social media: if you are a florist then perhaps engage with wedding venues. If you are a cafe then you might engage with the company that supplies your coffees. If you own a pub you might engage with local breweries. Reach out and make connections.
Engage with your customers on social media: get their feedback, have conversations, get their suggestions and recommendations, their criticisms and their praise. Listen and learn from them.
Engage with your potential customers: show them how your company is different to others because — for a start — you’re prepared to listen to and address their concerns, before you’ve even made a sale.
